10 Minute Ultradian Break

10 Minute Ultradian Break

Led by Amelie Becher as part of the Mindful Movement & Meditation series aimed at helping those with chronic health conditions to move closer towards their health and happiness goals. What's in the session: Welcome stretches (lying in bed or sitting upright - your choice) 3 minutes of 6/6 breathing to balance the sympathetic & parasympathetic nervous system, stabilise the mind, stimulate the vagus nerve and calm inflammation. 2 minutes mindfulness exercise - tuning into touch and hearing 2 minutes mindfulness exercise - anchoring with breath 2.5 minutes - movement Why: Short answer = to help us heal more efficiently!! We all have ultradian rhythms and they matter to virtually all aspects of our physical, mental, and emotional health, but our society encourages us to ignore the signals from our body that we need to take a break. We ALL feel it when we head into an ultradian trough ... that feeling of being fatigued, spacey, groggy, irritable, distracted, hungry, or fidgety. Your attention might wander. Your body might feel heavy, your face slack, your eyes glazed, unfocused, or droopy. Unfortunately society tells us to grab a coffee or some sugar and push on through... however our body is telling us its TIME TO REST, it needs 20 minutes of restorative time to get us back to functioning at peak performance. We understand that sometimes 20 minutes isn't always possible which is why there is this 10 minute version available. Doing a little is better than doing nothing!!
