Sanctuary was founded from a growing need for community and connection for those suffering from Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) and other chronic health conditions that aren't understood by the general population.
We strive to create nurturing safe spaces in which to meet, share and heal
with others who understand.
Welcome to a place for emotional respite, education and healing.
Together we can combat isolation, heal from our experiences and reclaim our lives.

Creator of Sanctuary
Amelie Becher
"Don't wait for a light to appear at the end of the tunnel, stride down there and light the bloody thing yourself." ~ Sarah Henderson
Amelie has Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome from living and working in water damaged buildings for decades. At many times in her journey to seek safety and heal, Amelie fell into a deep depression and has on numerous occasions come close to ending her life. She knows all too well the mental anguish and complex trauma that accompanies mould life which is what led her to create this supportive sanctuary.
"I craved for myself a place that was reliably safe and accessible with a support network that understood what I was going through.
When I couldn't find it, I decided to create it.
I'm hoping that Sanctuary can be a place of respite for my tribe of fellow mould warriors to gather. I want to create a dependable support network in which to be truly seen, heard and supported when the rest of the world lets us down." ~ Amelie
